Jalmari Helander

Jalmari Helander's career has been on the rise since he entered the commercials scene in 2003. His debut TV commercial - for a local alcopop - received Effie & Adprofit Awards, his next commercial for a local magazine was shortlisted at Clio 2004, and work soon followed for Nokia, the Finnish Defence Forces and renowned rapper, Redrama (EMI/Virgin) among others.

Helander has worked with the biggest brands in Finland, and also received international recognition for his debut feature Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale which was distributed globally. He has been showcased on “Shots” (Issue #94, “Sunflowers”) and awarded the “Best Director” title in the Finnish Magazine “City”.

The original Rare Exports short film also won audience and jury awards at San Sebastian Film Festival, has been included in the MoMa collection in New York, and has been shown on TV in France (Canal+), Spain (Canal+), Italy (NBC Universal), Australia (SBS), and Finland.  His style is action based and very cinematographic, with a twist of comedy.
